Akuamma

Picralima nitida.

Its traditional use is in medicine throughout West Africa. In its native regions,  it is used as a treatment for pain, diarrhea, and malaria. It has many similar properties to Kratom.
It is an excellent alternative for those who wish to take a break from regular kratom consumption.  Or for those looking to try something new. It also a good option for people who cannot receive kratom due to legal restrictions.

An enterprising Ghanaian hospital started manufacturing and selling standardized 250 mg capsules of the powdered P. nitida seed, which then became a widely used palliative. This then led researchers to try to discover the active component of the seeds.

The main active alkaloid is, Akuammine (vincamajoridine^[2]), an indole alkaloid. It is the most abundant alkaloid found in the seeds from the tree Picralima nitida,^[3] commonly known as akuamma, comprising 0.56% of the dried powder.

Serving size: 1-2 Teaspoons.

Akuamma is very very bitter. We recommend mixing it with something sweet. Either in juice or melted in hot water with honey or sugar.
