At Quint, we’ve earned a bit of a reputation: our kratom is strong and clean. So much that people regularly ask us how we brew it so smooth. While we keep the full details of our batches close to the chest, we do want to empower our community with a reliable, effective home brew method that won’t taste like regret. If you’re shopping our Kratom, we want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.
So if you’re brand new to kratom or just looking to level up your brewing game, here’s a guide to help you brew your own gallon batch at home.
Ingredients:
- 100g of Kratom Powder or Crushed Leaf – Choose a good-quality, lab-tested kratom for the best results… A.K.A. Ours!
- Optional Additions:
- Lemon or lime juice (boosts alkaloid extraction)
- Cinnamon sticks (for flavor and gut balance)
Equipment You’ll Need:
- A large pot (stainless steel if possible. Keeps it clean!)
- A fine strainer or, better yet, a 70-micron strainer bag.
- A gallon glass container (for cooling + storing)
Brewing Instructions:
- Prep Your Water:
- Add 3 quarts of water to your pot.
- Optional: Squeeze in lemon or lime juice if using (1–2 tbsp).
- Low Simmer:
- Heat the water to about 185°F but avoid boiling. You want a gentle simmer.
- Add your kratom (and optional: cinnamon sticks.)
- Simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Strain:
- After brewing, pour the tea through your strainer bag or fine mesh into another clean container.
- Don’t rush this step. The cleaner the strain, the smoother the sip.
- Fun Fact: That gunk at the bottom of your pot that can’t quite get through the strainer? Toss it! This is exactly the type of material that your body can’t break down. If you’re a “toss-and-washer,” this is the stuff that makes your tummy feel yucky. If you accidentally pour this into your strainer bag, you can still squeeze the bag to get as much tea out!
- Top Off or Chill:
- Add cold water or ice until you’ve got a full gallon. Want to keep it hot? Valid. Just top it off with hot water instead. Either way, aim for that full gallon mark.
- Refrigerate until cold, then enjoy over ice or as-is.
Pro Tips From the Bar:
- Kratom is bitter, and that’s okay. It’s supposed to be! A bit of citrus or monk fruit can help balance it.
- Never boil your kratom. It can break down alkaloids and create a harsher flavor.
- If you want to make more, just multiply! But, mind the ratios.
Final Thoughts:
We get it. Toss-and-wash is fast, it’s easy, and it’s what a lot of people default to when starting out with kratom. But let’s be honest: your body wasn’t designed to break down that much raw plant material. It’s not the healthiest route, and over time, it can be tough on your gut. That’s one of the big reasons we always recommend brewing kratom into a tea instead.
Brewing your kratom is a cleaner, healthier, and way more cost-effective method. You’re extracting the alkaloids (what actually matters), leaving behind the stuff your body struggles with, and opening the door to flavor it the way you want. Making it this way and adding citrus, cinnamon, or something totally unique to make it yours is the kind of thoughtful crafting that allowed our team to make some good ass tea. Sure, it takes a little time, but it’s worth it. Think of it less like a chore and more like a ritual. A little extra effort goes a long way.
We take a lot of pride in how we brew. We’re known for strong, clean, balanced kratom, and there’s a reason our regulars keep coming back for it. If you ever want to skip the mess and just enjoy the experience, come visit us at the bar. We’re always happy to serve you a cup that hits just right and if you’re trying to learn how to brew better at home, we’ve got your back for that, too!
